LPS: More students and staff test positive

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) announces their latest coronavirus numbers via their Weekly Illness Dashboard.

A significant rise can be seen in student positives can be seen, jumping from 37 to 52. This brings the total case number to 302.

This count includes students and staff who tested positive after being present in a district building within 48 hours of symptoms developing or the COVID-19 test being taken. LPS currently has a student population upwards of 42,200.

As for staff positives, 30 cases were identified this week, which brings the total to 195.

The number of LPS staffers in self-isolation is back up at 166. This count includes staff who are self-isolating due to exhibiting symptoms or have been notified of a high-risk contact with COVID-19, and those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been directed to quarantine.

Lastly, for the first time since the Weekly Illness Dashboard began, absence reports are up to 3%.
