LPS’ positive COVID-19 cases double

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)  — Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) released their latest COVID-19 numbers, since the announcement of the new school-focused dashboard.

According to this report, LPS confirms eight positive coronavirus cases, twice as many as the week prior. This count includes students and staff who tested positive after being present in a district building within 48 hours of symptoms developing or the COVID-19 test being taken. LPS currently has a student population upwards of 42,200.

The current number of LPS staffers in self-isolation or quarantine is 45, up ten from last week. This count includes staff who are self-isolating due to exhibiting symptoms or have been notified of a high-risk contact with COVID-19, and those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been directed to quarantine.

The district’s Wednesday Illness Report also increased to two percent.


Coronavirus reports will be made every Thursday at 2 p.m. due to newly established LPS protocols.
