LPS surpasses 1,000 total COVID-19 cases since beginning of school year

That includes 857 totals cases in students since the district started reporting them on Aug. 8, 147 cases in faculty.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools has now reported more than 1,000 COVID-19. That includes 857 totals cases in students since the district started reporting them on Aug. 8, 147 cases in faculty.

There are more than 42,000 students within the LPS school district. There were only a combined 50 COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday.

Broken down into different schools, elementary students and staff have accounted for approximately 43 percent of the cases (434 cases). Middle school staff and students have had around 20 percent of the total cases (207), while LPS high schools have had 29 percent of the total cases (294).

LPS is currently under mask mandate and will likely stay that way until at least Oct. 28 when Lancaster County’s DHM expires.
