Authorities say a father and son were injured in a nearly head-on crash south of Lincoln.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near 54th and Bennet Rd.

Sgt. Tommy Trotter with the Lancaster Count Sheriff’s Office told Channel 8 Eyewitness News a 23-year-old Lincoln man was headed north when he lost control and crossed the center line and hit the other vehicle.

“We suspect he was possibly under the influence of alcohol, so we’re going to do more testing to make sure of that,” Trotter said.

The occupants of the second vehicle, a 34-year-old Hickman man and his six-year-old son, were taken by ambulance to Bryan West. Their injuries are considered serious but non-life threatening, Trotter said.

Seatbelts were being used by everyone involved in the crash.
