LSO investigating fatal crash south of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office (LSO) deputies are investigating a fatal crash that occurred south of Lincoln.
Just before 12 p.m. on Oct. 4, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of South 82nd Street and Roca Road.
A Kia Soul, driven by Kaycee Kuhn, 43, was traveling eastbound on Roca Road when a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 16-year-old boy who was traveling southbound, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection.
LSO Crash Team investigated the scene and determined that they believe the Nissan was going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone when the crash occurred.
According to Houchin, the teenager got out of his vehicle before, about five minutes later, it was engulfed in flames.
Houchin said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were in involved. No charges have been issued.
Kuhn was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said an autopsy will be performed today, Oct. 5. The investigation is ongoing.
