Make-A-Wish holds drive-through celebration for wish kids

Make-A-Wish kids got a special surprise Saturday morning.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A drive-by parade was held in south Lincoln Saturday morning to celebrate Make-A-Wish kids.

The ‘parade of wishes’ was held in the Yankee Hill Business Center to celebrate our local wish kids. The streets were lined with Disney characters, Nebraska Cheerleaders, Josh the Otter and more.

“We started it last year for the first time when everything was shut down and we know that so many of our kids are still having to be extra cautious because either they haven’t gotten vaccinated yet or their immune systems are still compromised,” Melissa Davis-Schmit, Regional Director for Make-A-Wish Nebraska said. “We still just wanted to let them know that we love them, we see them and just give them a fun morning that they could come out and see how much the community loves them.”

“It’s important for us to be here today because it’s so much fun being out here and being able to bring joy to all of the wish kids,” Ella Davis-Schmit, Princess Make-A-Wish said.
