Man arrested after driving vehicle on bare rims

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –  Lincoln Police were dispatched to the area of south 9th and Van Dorn Street shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Jan. 18th after witnesses reported a Ford Ranger driving in the area on a bare rim.

According to LPD, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop after observing a vehicle matching the description at south 9th and South Street.

Joel Patterson, age 35, was observed by an LPD officer making several traffic violations as he drove south on S. 9th Street.

The observing officer so initiated his overhead lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle, Patterson continued without stopping for the officer.

Ultimately Patterson stopped in the 2200 block of S. 13th Street and was ordered out of the vehicle, resisting officers’ attempts to take him into custody.

Officers were able to place Patterson into handcuffs after a brief struggle.

Officers found two open bottles of liquor inside the Ford Ranger. Officers initiated a DUI investigation, the test indicated that Patterson was over the legal limit to drive.

Patterson was arrested for Operating a Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, DUI (1st Offense), Possess Open Alcohol Container, Violate Traffic Signal, and Resisting Arrest.
