Man arrested after threatening teenage brother with a handgun
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Tuesday, officials arrest 26-year-old John Belot after threatening his brother with a handgun.
The incident took place June 27th around 4:00 a.m. when Lincoln Police were called to a home in the 1000 block of W. Britt Dr. The victim, a 17-year-old male, reported that his brother, Belot, had arrived and was knocking on the door, waking those in the home. An argument began between the brothers, which quickly turned physical. Belot then threatened to kill him and pulled out a handgun. The victim told officers he was scared for his life. Belot had fled before officers arrived.
On Tuesday, Aug. 4th, Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force investigators spotted Belot near 17th and M Streets just before 6:00 p.m. They were aware he was wanted in connection to the June 27th incident. He was in a vehicle with two others and had a 9mm handgun concealed in his waistband. Upon further investigation, officers found 54 grams of methamphetamine, valued at 4,700 dollars, multiple pills identified Hydrochloride, and a backpack with pipes and a scale.
One passenger was identified as 28-year-old Chance Eddings, who also had two felony warrants. Upon Eddings’ arrest, officers also found 0.6 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and brass knuckles with a knife blade connected. He is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a deadly weapon.
While the other passenger, 25-year-old Vanessa Wheeler, was found with a back pack that contained drug paraphernalia, a plastic bag with methamphetamine residue, and syringes.
Belot was arrested for Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Firearm while violating a Drug Law, Possession of Money while violating a Drug Law, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. While his passenger, Eddings, was arrested for Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving During Suspension. Wheeler was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance.
