Man arrested for assaulting ex-girlfriend and officer

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Saturday morning, around 1:20, officers with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) responded to the 1700 block of Old Glory on a possible weapons violation.

LPD learned a 14-year-old had reported that 21-year-old Garrison Menifee had threatened individuals inside the residence with a knife. Once on scene, officers made contact with Menifee inside the residence, but he refused to comply and attempted to run towards a table with a knife.

As officers were attempting to prevent Menifee from grabbing the knife, he punched one in the head. This officer was later diagnosed with a concussion. Officers used a Taser to take Menifee into custody.

After interviewing other residents in the house, LPD learned Menifee had assaulted his ex-girlfriend by biting, punching and kicking her in the head, and slamming her into a wall. Bruising and abrasions consistent with these statements were observed.

Menifee was cited and lodge for felony assault on a police officer and misdemeanor third-degree domestic assault.
