Man arrested for false imprisonment, weapon and drug charges

A felon was arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly held a woman against her will in a speeding vehicle.

Lincoln police said officers responded Saturday afternoon to the area of 17th and Harwood Street on a disturbance call, after a 53-year-old man reported seeing a woman running from a pickup truck.

The 29-year-old woman told officers Joshua Hoegemeyer, 34, had asked her to help him pack up a hotel room. While helping him, the woman noticed Hoegemeyer, who police said is a felon, had a gun.

Hoegemeyer reportedly threw items outs of the hotel window, then got into the pickup with the woman. The woman told police Hoegemeyer was driving recklessly, nearly hitting several poles and reaching speeds of 110 miles per hour at one point.

The woman reported Hoegemeyer threw soda in her face and sped up when she tried to get out of the truck. Police said the woman was eventually able to escape.

Hoegemeyer was arrested for first-degree false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of controlled substance.
