Man arrested in fatal stabbing in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing that happened near 27th and Holdrege Streets on Friday.

Steven Alexander, 34, was arrested Tuesday near 31st Street and Folkways Boulevard without incident, police said.

He is charged with manslaughter in the stabbing of Austin Gress, 26.

Police say they were fighting over a bicycle in the alley near a gas station.

Gress was stabbed multiple times, including once in the upper chest, according to police.

Officers began life-saving measures on Gress when they arrived, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Alexander is also facing charges of first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
