LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A central Nebraska man was found guilty Tuesday of murdering his wife.

Jeffrey Adams, 48, was convicted in Hamilton County District Court of first-degree murder.

On Feb. 26, 2023, the body of his wife, Angela Adams, was found lying in a pool of blood at their Marquette home.

She had injuries on her body, including two cuts on her face, according to court documents.

Jeffrey Adams told police that they had been drinking heavily the night before and got into a fight.

He said he punched her twice in the head, then left as she was lying on the flood, bleeding.

Adams was initially charged with second-degree murder, which means a killing was not premeditated.

But prosecutors upgraded the charge to first-degree murder, accusing Adams of killing his wife with “deliberate and premediated malice,” court documents say.

The trial lasted seven days, and jurors took about five hours to deliberate the verdict.

Adams will be sentenced on Oct. 17.
