Man found hiding under ex-girlfriend’s bed, cited for burglary

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Saturday morning, just after 7, LPD responded to the 2600 block of “K” Street on a report of a burglary.

Once on scene, officers saw a second-floor apartment window was broken, with a toolbox wedged under the window. Officers attempted to make contact at the apartment. When no one answered, they forced entry, searched the residence, and located an individual. He was identified as 28-year-old Gustavo Gomez, found in a bedroom hiding underneath a bed.

Officers contacted the apartment tenants, who were no on location at the time, and ascertained Gomez did not live there. In fact, LPD states he was attempting to burglarize the apartment.

The victim, a 29-year-old female, is one of Gomez’s ex-girlfriends. LPD had also been looking for Gomez prior to this, to interview him concerning domestic assault incidents. Officers cited and lodged Gomez for felony burglary, as well as misdemeanor domestic assault, child abuse, and criminal mischief regarding prior incidents.
