Man hid in trees after crashing stolen truck into sign at Lincoln Southwest, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Wednesday morning after he crashed into a sign at Lincoln Southwest High School, police say.

Around 5:20 a.m., 43-year-old Eleazar Oceguera was heading west on Pine Lake Road when he hit a curb and struck the school’s sign, according to police.

Police said Oceguera then got out of the truck, which had been reported stolen, and ran away.

Officers set up a perimeter and found him hiding behind trees north of the school.

Oceguera was then arrested on suspicion of theft by receiving, leaving the scene of an injury accident and possession of meth.

Police did not say how fast Oceguera was driving, or if he was impaired.

The amount of damage to the sign is unknown, according to police.
