Man repairing tractor dies in explosion in northeast Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was killed Tuesday in a tractor explosion at a rural Nebraska farm, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 10:50 a.m., a man was repairing a tractor at a farm south of Norfolk when the tire and rim exploded.

The sheriff’s office said the explosion caused a “serious blunt force injury” to the man, 38-year-old Miguel Cardenas Pena.

When deputies arrived, they tried to save Pena’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the death is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
