Police are investigating after a man reported being pistol-whipped and robbed of his car in a south Lincoln neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Lincoln police say the 33-year-old man told officers he had given two female friends of his a ride to a home near 30th and E St. when they got out and went inside.

A short time later, a man in a dark hooded sweatshirt and one of the females walked up to the car. The man got into the passenger seat, pulled a gun on the victim and demanded his belongings, police said.

The suspect took the victim’s keys and struck him in the face with the gun, police said.

The victim eventually freed himself from the car and ran to a gas station where he called police.

Police say the car, a 2005 white Toyota Camry, was not found when officers checked the area.

The victim reported losing his cellphone, wallet, keys and the car.

Police say this was not a random incident.
