Man says roommate used torch to light things on fire in Lincoln apartment

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man called police this week to report that his roommate was using a torch to light various things on fire in their apartment.

Police say that when they arrived in the area of South 19th and Washington Streets early Sunday morning, they found Justin Robert Armstrong, 43, with the torch.

Armstrong burned items such as a door, electrical fixtures and a chair, police say.

Police estimate the damage to be around $2,000.

Armstrong was taken into custody and is thought to have been under the influence of a controlled substance.
