Man sent to hospital after accident on Jamaica Trail

The man suffered multiple broken bones, but is expected to be OK.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says a 49-year-old man was transferred to Bryan West hospital after an accident on the Jamaica Trail near Roca road.

The man, who is hearing impaired, was riding his bike on the trail, when two motorized dirt bikes passed him from behind, startling him and causing him to fall off his bike.

The man suffered multiple broken bones, considered to be non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff Terry Wagner says victims in the area say the motorized bicyclists didn’t realize they had startled the man or that he fell, and they continued along the trail.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind citizens that motorized vehicles are NOT allowed on the trail. Anyone with information is encouraged to call LSO at 402-441-6500.
