LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A New Jersey man will spend two years in prison for using a stolen credit card to buy a skid loader from a Nebraska business.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that 33-year-old Kyle Halsey was sentenced Wednesday for illegal transaction with an access device.

In February 2022, Halsey used a stolen credit card to purchase a skid loader and bucket, according to the attorney’s office.  He also had the equipment delivered to him in New Jersey.

In total, Halsey paid $46,230.87 for the equipment.

One month later, police in New Jersey seized the skid loader, while Halsey was trying to sell it to another person.

After his release from prison, Halsey will serve a three-year term of supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system.
