Man suffers serious head injury after being punched in downtown Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man remains in the hospital after he suffered a head injury during an argument in downtown Lincoln on New Year’s Eve, police say.

Just before midnight, officers were walking near the intersection of 14th and O Streets when they saw 21-year-old Damian Robles punch a 25-year-old man.

The victim then fell to the pavement and hit his head, knocking him unconscious, according to police.

Officers immediately called Lincoln Fire & Rescue, which took him to a local hospital, where he was found to have a “significant head injury,” police say.

Witnesses told police that Robles had punched the victim during an argument.

Police have not been able to interview the victim due to his injury.  Robles was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault.
