Mark Lakers charged for campaign finance problems

Former Democratic candidate for governor Mark Lakers has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of abusing public records.

The plea entered Friday in Lancaster County Court was part of an agreement with the Nebraska attorney general's office.

Under the deal, he'll be fined $500 and he's admitted to falsifying about 50 of 80 campaign pledges on his finance report.

Lakers dropped out of the governor's race in July amid questions about his campaign finance reports. Lakers has said he made some errors on the reports.
