Mask mandate extended in Lancaster County
The current DHM has been extended to December 23.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced the mask mandate that was set to expire Wednesday, will now be extended.
The mask mandate in Lancaster County now lasts until December 23.
The COVID-19 risk dial remains in mid orange, which indicates a high risk of COVID-19 spread and impact in the community.
Health Director Pat Lopez made the decision to extend the mask mandate based on current trends in Lancaster County.
Lopez said they are urging everyone who is eligible to receive their booster dose as soon as possible. LLCHD has upcoming vaccine clinics that will include booster doses.
According to Lopez, 21% or close to 6000 children in the community received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Lopez said the seven-day rolling average increased from 80 cases a day to an average of 130 cases toward the end of last week.
