Matt Talbot opens doors to anyone who needs to cool off
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – It’s been an unseasonably hot week in Lincoln, so it’s important to stay cool and hydrated.
Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is opening its doors, during normal business hours, for anyone who needs a break from the heat.
Glenn Schawang, outreach program coordinator, said it’s part of Matt Talbot’s mission to help people.
“Most importantly, the extreme temperatures can be dangerous, so we want everyone in the community to be safe,” he said. “It’s very simple for us to provide just an open place for people to come to, so really we just want everybody to be safe and do our part to help with that.”
The center is going to provide water and a place to sit in the air conditioning. Staff members will also go out through the city giving water to homeless people on the street.
Matt Talbot is located near 27th and Fair streets and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
