LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird is encouraging donations for the fourth annual Lincoln Littles Giving Day.

Mayor Gaylor Baird issued the “Mayor’s Big Challenge for Lincoln Littles” to encourage the community to donate.

Lincoln Littles Giving Day takes place on Feb. 9 and promotes access to high-quality early childhood care and education to build Lincoln’s workforce for the future.

The Lincoln Littles initiative provides tuition assistance for lower-income families, improving their access to high-quality early childhood education.

Since the inception of Lincoln Littles Giving Day, $2.4 million has been raised to support families.

Mayor Gaylor Baird asks the community to match the $100,000 funds from the Community Development Block Grant.

Those wanting to donate can do so at LincolnLittles.org.

“Childcare is fundamental to Lincoln’s economic resilience and inclusion,” said Mayor Gaylor Baird. “Supporting access to high-quality childcare has a long-term positive impact on our children, families, workforce, and our collective future.”
