Meet Pumuckel, possibly the world’s smallest pony
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Pumuckel is a miniature Shetland pony in Germany looking to earn a spot in the Guinness World Records.
At under 2 feet tall, he could be the world’s smallest pony.
But according to his owner, Carola Weidemann, Pumuckel will have to wait a little longer before that title is official.
“The Guinness Book of World Records wrote back and said that horses and ponies would only be accepted from the age of 4,” Weidemann said. “So I have to wait a little, and I hope that this little darling here won’t grow much any more so that we can make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.”
Pumuckel is 19.6 inches tall and weighs about 77 pounds, according to Weidemann.
Because he is so small, Weidemann said Pumuckel is allowed to go into the house and eat breakfast with the family, something the other horses and ponies don’t get to do.
