James Wilke, the Nebraska farmer and first responder who lost his life last year during Nebraska’s devastating floods, will now be remembered with a memorial.

The James Wilke Memorial Bridge will up Thursday, April 30th, north of Columbus in Platte County.

The bridge will commemorate the memory of the fallen hero who gave his life trying to save another person who was stranded in their car during last year’s flood.

Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry says “Thank you to the Wilke family and the Platte County Board of Supervisors for this fitting tribute, to a good man doing his duty.”
