Men fled from authorities, one spit on officer, Grand Island Police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two men ran from Grand Island Police on Monday, and one of them spit on an officer, police said.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police responded to a call asking for help removing someone from a home.

They found Daniel and Juan Martinez in the home. Both had active warrants in Hall County.

Police said that as officers tried to make the arrests, the men fled.

Juan Martinez was found first, and he spit in an officer’s face after being apprehended, according to police.

Daniel Martinez first hid behind the apartment complex, then fled again after being spotted.

Officers then found him walking a few blocks away.

They saw him throw a THC vape pen, which was recovered later, according to police.

Juan Martinez was arrested on suspicion of several offenses, including assaulting an officer.

Daniel Martinez was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and more offenses.
