Missing man’s body found near Hamburg, Iowa in Nishnabotna River

HAMBURG, Iowa. (KMTV) — The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office has located a missing man in the Nishnabotna River, near the Goldenrod Boat Access in Hamburg, Iowa.

77-year-old Thomas Gibson was found around 9:15 this morning. His body was located by family members, with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Water Division, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Hamburg Rescue.

Gibson was originally reported missing on Monday after his vehicle was found on the boat ramp and his boat was unoccupied near the I-29 over the River.

An autopsy will be conducted.
