Authorities are investigating a Monday night stabbing as a homicide.

Lincoln police officers responded around 8:27 p.m. to the area of 14th and D St. on reports of a fight.

Upon arrival, officers found 37-year-old Jeremy Lane suffering from a stab wound.

CPR and and AED device were utilized to safe Lane, who was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after, Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said.

Bliemeister said Lane was involved in a fight with another person which spanned several minutes before the stabbing occurred. The other participant is a person of interest and police are looking for him to conduct an interview, Bliemeister said.

Investigators are still reviewing video evidence and conducting interviews.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000.

This would be Lincoln’s sixth homicide of the year. Earlier the same day, police responded to a fatal shooting near 13th and Washington. A 21-year-old man has been arrested for second-degree murder of his father in the case.
