LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –The Lincoln restaurant Muchachos is giving back to the community after winning a local food tournament. The “Munch Madness” tournament was put on by KLIN and involved a number of local restaurants, all of them hoping to win the title.

After weeks of voting, Muchachos beat out H.F. Crave for the top spot, claiming the gold.

While owner, Nick Maestas and his crew celebrated the victory, they decided to give back. On Tuesday, Muchachos gave away one free street taco to customers and for every taco they gave away, they also gave an equal cash donation to The Matt Talbot kitchen.

“We have always wanted to be more than just a restaurant or more than just a food truck. We wanted to be an active member of our community, and doing so however, we can give back,” Maestas said.

He said it was important to give back and provide a hot meal for others.
