Large house fire in Greenwood turns deadly; home appears to be a total loss
UPDATE (4:30 a.m.) — Greenwood Fire & Rescue has confirmed that at least one person is dead after Thursday night’s house fire.
Crews were still on scene early Friday as the home continued to smolder.
Authorities have not identified the victim or how they died.
They also haven’t revealed the source of the fire.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 8 it may have an update later in the day.
GREENWOOD, Neb. (KLKN) – Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, multiple units were called to a large house fire in Greenwood, which is northeast of Lincoln.
It was at a home near Third and Grand Streets, which was covered with smoke by the time a Channel 8 reporter made it to the scene.
Our reporter said she saw smoke billowing from the house and several units responding to the blaze.
The Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department worked hard to extinguish the fire. It was joined by units from Ashland, Waverly and Murdock.
