Nasty train wreck in York under investigation

Several posts on social media suggest a K9 officer was involved in the crash

YORK, Neb. (KLKN) — A train crash involving a vehicle in York is under investigation this morning.

According to the police department, this happened around midnight near the 1900 block of North Delaware Avenue.  They’re asking everyone in town to use caution and avoid the area while their investigation is taking place.

Multiple posts on social media suggest a K9 officer was involved in the crash, with some offering condolences.  Channel 8 is working with authorities to confirm those details this morning.

Right now our own Alexa Skonieski is on scene and says the vehicle that collided with the train is badly damaged and appears to have even caught fire.

Crews working in the area have brought in heavy machinery to assist them.  So far there’s no official word on how this all started.
