NCBB and Red Cross Call For Donations

The Nebraska Community Blood bank is calling for donors to help Hurricane Dorian survivors.

Officials say the storm has forced the cancellation of around 70 Red Cross Blood Drives and donations centers in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, resulting in more than 1,800 uncollected blood and platelet donations.

The Red Cross is urging eligible people in places unaffected to give blood and or platelets to ensure a adequate blood supply for patients.

Officials say in addition to the canceled drives, they anticipate low blood donor turnout in and around affected areas due to poor weather throughout the week.
