NDCS: Inmate serving sentence for attempted murder dies in custody

An inmate serving a sentence for murder died Thursday morning, corrections officials said.

An inmate serving a sentence for murder died Thursday morning, corrections officials said.

Randy Harms, 61, was serving a 45-to-60 year sentence for attempted first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. He died at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution around 4 a.m., officials said.

Corrections officials said Harms was under treatment for long term medical condition.

A grand jury will conduct an investigation.
