LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — October has seen the last of its warm weather as the chill of fall sets in. With this in mind, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) and the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) are encouraging drivers to be prepared for colder weather.

In a recent press release, NSP Superintendent Colonel John Bolduc said “The first major bout with winter weather often has the potential to catch travelers off-guard. We encourage all drivers to plan ahead for
adverse driving conditions…”

If the weather is severe, try to only be on the roads when necessary.

If you do have to drive, make sure to pack warm clothes, water, and food in case of an emergency.

Otherwise, if you get stuck in the snow this winter, or just need assistance, call NSP at *55 or 800-525-5555 for help.
