Authorities have recovered a gun reported stolen nearly three decades ago.

On Oct. 23, 1992, Lincoln police officers responded to a burglary at 620 W. O St. – which at the time was A&A Pawn. Nine firearms, including a 38-caliber Rossi handgun , were reported stolen after the door was kicked in.

Wednesday night, Gage County authorities recovered the Rossi handgun and notified the Lincoln Police Department.

The person found with the gun is too young to have been involved with the alleged burglary, police said.

LPD is looking into the statute of limitations involved in the case, as well as how the gun remained in circulation for so long.
