Nebraska baseball begins preseason practice

The Husker baseball team held their first practice of the year Friday ahead of the 2022 season.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska baseball held their first spring practice of the 2022 season on Friday. The Huskers are coming off a Big Ten championship last year with a 34-14 record and a NCAA Regional Final appearance.

“We’re excited to get better today,” said head coach Will Bolt. “I sound like a broken record at times, but I’m literally just focused on winning today. And that’s the point we’re trying to get to is where we’re as excited about this day as we are, you know, day number 11 practice when you’re all ready to go play somebody else.”

The team also rolled-up to day one of practice with fresh haircuts. Yesterday, Will Bolt and his team shaved their heads in support of childhood cancer and the ‘Versus Cancer’ initiative they have been fundraising for since the fall.

“Shaving our heads is the lease we can do for all the kids out there,” said senior pitcher Shay Schanaman.
