Nebraska basketball’s Jamarques Lawrence named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska basketball guard Jamarques Lawrence earned the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday.
The New Jersey native averaged 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in games against Michigan State and Iowa.
The 6-foot-3 guard helped the Huskers to their first win in Iowa City since 2012 with five 3-pointers on Sunday.
Lawrence is the first Husker to receive the honor this season.
Last season, former Husker Bryce McGowens, now a Charlotte Hornet, earned the award eight times.
Lawrence and the Huskers will now prepare for the Big Ten Tournament, where Nebraska will take on Minnesota in the opening round.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday, and the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
