Nebraska beats Chadron State in exhibition game

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska men’s basketball beat the Chadron State Eagles in an exhibition home game on Sunday.

It was the first of two exhibition games the Huskers have scheduled before their non-conference schedule begins on November 7th.

The Huskers saw some impressive performances from the starting five along with strong contributions from their bench.

Senior transfers Sam Griesel and Emmanuel Bandoumel led the charge for the starting unit.

Grisel recorded 14 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal in his Husker debut.

While Bandoumel had 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Junior forward Juwan Gary finished with a team high 23 points along with grabbing 9 rebounds off the bench.

Head Coach Fred Hoiberg spoke after the game saying he was pleased with the team overall effort.

He spoke further saying “I thought the run that Chadron went on to start the second half was good. You know, I thought the guys stayed together through that adversity which you have to have, and then went on to big runs, I think 13 to two and 21 to nothing in the second half to really open it up. So, really pleased with the effort, you know, plenty to clean up which we’ll get back to this week, heading into our next opportunity against Colorado, and, you know, hopefully be where we need to be when we open up on the seventh.”

The Huskers will be on the road at the University of Colorado on Sunday.
