Nebraska Children’s Home Society spends Thursday night at the ballpark

This is the 18th year of NCHS's fundraiser.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Saltdogs have the opportunity Thursday night to sweep their 3-game series against the Houston Apollos but win or lose, it’s going to be a great night. That’s because it’s a night that’s going to help a lot of kids and families. A portion of the ticket sales goes to the Nebraska Children’s Home Society.

NCHS facilitates adoptions, provides foster care, and helps other families that are starting out on their journey as parents. NCHS pregnancy, parenting, and adoption specialist Chelsea McCoy explains their mission is “of a safe and loving home for every child”. She adds, “We couldn’t do what we do without generations of community support.”

Of course, helping out is only half the fun. NCHS kids are getting to enjoy themselves at the game, too. McCoy says, “One of our kids is going to get to go out and throw the first pitch. We’ll have some of our kids singing in the 7th inning stretch, and they get to run the bases after the game.”

When it comes to a fun Thursday night activity, and helping others, this event sounds like a grand slam.
