Nebraska City gears up for the AppleJack Festival’s 54th celebration

Fresh ripe apples and fried goodies are ready to be washed down with homemade apple cider

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Opening weekend begins this Friday for the 54th annual AppleJack Festival, bringing family fun and tasty treats to Nebraska City.

Arbor Day Farms Marketing Manager, Connie Van Nostrand, says they’re excited to unveil a new interactive mural at this year’s festivities.

“We really wanted something fun for our guests, something colorful and engaging,” she said.

Omaha artist, Maggie Heusinkvelt, was selected for the mural as Arbor Day Farms rebuilt following a fire.

Heusinkvelt, with the help of her family, brought the mural to life.  Van Nostrand said her “style and skill” is a sight to see.

“We really wanted to emphasize trees and nature and our emotional connection to them,” said Van Nostrand. “This is what she came up with, and we are just thrilled with it.”

The festival will be held from September 16th to 18th, before returning the following weekend on the 24th and 25th.

“We’re just really excited to welcome people back,” Van Nostrand said.

“I think just over the last few years with all that we’ve been through giving people an opportunity to come and be outside and just relax, is something we really value.”
