Nebraska Deer and Game Expo brings big bucks to Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Outdoor lovers from across the Midwest traveled to the Lancaster Event Center on Sunday to celebrate all things hunting.
From food to equipment vendors, there was something waiting to be found around every corner at the Nebraska Deer and Game Expo.
Luke Wallace, a vendor representing Whitetail Properties Real Estate, said there were a vast number of vendors this year.
“You’ll find stuff you didn’t know you needed,” he said.
Wallace said expo shows are the best place for beginners to find what clicks with their interests.
“We’re happy to talk with anybody about anything,” he said. “We definitely love to hear from the people that see us.”
Many of the vendors were locally based and prided themselves in keeping business and money on the home front.
Marty Weverka of the Big Game Conservation Association works at the expo to showcase the conservation of lands that big game live on.
“I’ve met people [here] who have seen our habitat projects throughout the state,” he said.
He said it’s great to hear stories from others about their achievements.
“That’s always good to hear, that you’ve improved something in the state, and they got to enjoy it,” he said.
Keeping with the theme of inspiring others to take up the pastime, this year’s expo included various hands-on activities for those of all ages.
Visitors could listen to hunting seminars or try their hands in an archery competition that tested both skill and knowledge.
Event organizer Chris Edwards said both events drew a large number of people.
“Going to the seminars, you can get a great amount of information for hunting season,” he said.
Edwards said that there were a variety of new products on display and that each vendor brought something different.
While the expo is over, many vendors have shops open seasonally and year-round, which can be found on the expo’s website.
