LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Huskers have earned themselves a #2 spot on the Big Ten’s volleyball preseason poll.

They’re behind defending National Champions Wisconsin and followed by Minnesota in the poll.

The Big Ten also announced the Preseason All-Big Ten Team, which includes three Huskers.

Kaitlyn Hord, Madi Kubik and Lexi Rodriguez were voted onto the team by Big Ten head coaches.

Kubik earned several awards last season including the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s third-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten honors.

She led the team with 3.49 kills per set, while also putting up 2.11 digs, 21 aces and 55 blocks.

Rodgriguez stood out during her freshman season in Nebraska, which saw her be recognized as the National Freshman of the Year.

Penn State transfer Kaitlyn Hord was named to the AVCA All-American Second Team in 2021.  She ranked third in the Big Ten with 1.40 blocks per set.

Right now, Kubik is in Chicago for the Big Ten Media Days event for volleyball.  She is joined alongside coach John Cook and teammate Kenzie Knuckles.

The Huskers also announced their TV schedule on Monday, which includes 14 national television broadcasts.
