LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Game and Parks will be hosting a “Day at the Lake” event at Conestoga Lake near Denton on June 18.

The event will be held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nebraska Game and Park’s Aquatic Habitat Program.

Officials say the program helps improve conditions for aquatic life through the management or rehabilitation of existing resources.

Nebraska Game and Parks recently renovated Conestoga Lake to include the program.

The lake will now have new fish species and piers.  Conestoga will now be ADA-accessible to help anglers get closer to the water, officials say.

People can visit from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 18 to fish, paddleboard and boat at the renovated lake.

Nebraska Game and Parks will provide bait, tackle and volunteers to help anglers out.

Those aged 16 and older will need to bring a valid Nebraska fishing permit, officials say.
