Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen appoints Scott Cordes as state fire marshal

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska has a new state fire marshal.
Gov. Jim Pillen announced Friday that he has appointed Scott Cordes as Nebraska’s fire marshal.
Cordes will replace Shane Hunter, who stepped down from the role last year due to personal health issues, according to a press release.
“Scott will work hard to cut regulatory burdens on our volunteer fire departments and paramedics,” Pillen said in the release. “He understands we need to help volunteers so they can continue to protect their communities without red tape and unnecessary interference from the state.”
Cordes currently leads the administrative department that oversees all public safety activities in Norfolk.
He served 25 years in the Norfolk Fire Division as a city fire marshal, assistant fire chief and fire chief.
