Nebraska hires Mark Whipple as offensive coordinator

Whipple has spent the last season at Pittsburgh serving as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Scott Frost has hired Mark Whipple to serve as Nebraska football’s next offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Whipple has spent the last season at Pittsburgh serving as their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Whipple is credited for developing current Panther quarterback Kenny Pickett, a 2021 Heisman finalist.

Prior to his time at Pitt, Whipple served as the head coach of Massachusetts from 2014-18. He also led the Minutemen in 1998-03. After his tenure at UMass, Whipple left as the winningest coach in program history.

Whipple also has professional coaching experiences spending time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns.
