Nebraska inmate convicted of first-degree sexual assault dies at 72
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 72-year-old inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution died Monday.
Michael Bedel was being treated for a medical condition, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, but his cause of death has not been determined.
He was serving a 25- to 30-year sentence for first-degree and third-degree sexual assault in Platte County. Bedel began that sentence in 2010.
His death will be investigated by a grand jury, as required by Nebraska law whenever an inmate dies.
