LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Wood River man was killed Friday night in a crash in southwest Grand Island, police say.

Around 9:15 p.m., officers were sent to a two-vehicle crash near Highway 30 and West Stolley Park Road.

Police say a “severe collision” had happened between a Dodge Ram and a Chevy Traverse.

The driver of the pickup, 44-year-old Gary Salpas, was then taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the occupants of the Chevy, a 49-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl, were also taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Grand Island Fire Department crews had to extricate the girl from the vehicle, according to police.
