Nebraska softball tops Michigan, advances to Big Ten Tournament semifinal
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 1-seeded Nebraska softball team advanced in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, beating No. 9-seeded Michigan 4-2 at the Maryland Softball Stadium in College Park.
A bulk of the scoring came early, as the Huskers jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Both squads added to their tallies in the fourth inning to round out the scoring.
As a team, Nebraska racked up nine hits but committed three errors, while Michigan only tallied four hits and committed zero errors.
Emmerson Cope led the Huskers from the plate, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Samantha Bland also went 2-for-3 from the plate with a double. Jordy Frahm, Hannah Coor, Hannah Camenzind, Ava Kuszak and Jesse Farrell each had a knock.
Frahm pitched all seven innings in the circle, only allowing four hits, 1 earned run and four walks. She also fanned nine batters.

With the win, Nebraska advances to the tournament semifinals to take on No. 4-seeded Indiana.
First pitch for that game is set for Friday at 5 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
