Nebraska Task Force 1 is coming home, following Hurricane Laura

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Friday, Nebraska Task Force 1 (NE-TF1) announced they are coming home.

NE-TF1, the Urban Search and Rescue team (USR) based with Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR), plans to leave Texas Friday morning and be back in Lincoln by Saturday afternoon. NE-TF1 was deployed to College Station, Texas in anticipation of Hurricane Laura.

The team includes 25 firefighters from LFR, the Omaha Fire Department, and the Papillion Fire Department. The LFR Battalion Chief of Special Operations Brad Thavenet, LFR Battalion Chief Lloyd Mueller, and Omaha Fire Captain David Kirchofer have been deployed to Louisianna and will remain there until further notice.
